News – Admin fun and changes

Christmas Festivities

As you may have noticed, the SAC admin offices have taken on a rather different look over the last few weeks.  Each office was challenged by their manager, Rachel Evans, to put up Christmas decorations but on the theme of Conservation! However, we fear that Rachel completely under estimated the competitive nature of the admin team as they set to work transforming their offices by creating decorations from recycled products, hand crafted creatures and in the case of Room 12a (the winners) a winter wonderland complete with Christmas tree. Check out our photographs on Facebook to get a better glimpse of the creativity/craziness of your admin team – the bubble-wrap sheep is incredible!

Since March the School has had Rachel Evans as Acting School Administration Manager. Rachel’s tenure with us has now come to its end and we need to return her to Arts.  Rachel has provided outstanding leadership and support to the admin team and her commitment, enthusiasm and positive outlook have benefitted the whole school.  Rachel will be sorely missed in the School but we are certain her input will have a long and lasting effect.  I’m sure you will all join me in thanking Rachel for all that she has brought to us and wishing her all the very best for the future, especially for her forthcoming wedding!

Jennie Hogg will be taking most of 2016 off for maternity leave, as she and her family welcome their second child (due 17th January).  Jennie’s period of leave will be covered by Siobhan Dumphy who currently works as Recruitment and Admissions Officer for the  School of Politics and International Relations. Siobhan will continue to work for PolIR part time and will be based in SAC (Room 12a) on Monday, Wednesday morning and Thursday as of 4th January 2016.  Siobhan comes with considerable recruitment and admissions experience and so you’ll all be in safe hands!

We are delighted to announce that Rachel Sykes is taking over creation of the SAC Newsletter.  Rachel is studying for her PhD and so will bring a fresh perspective to the activities of the School and to how the Newsletter reflects our wonderful community and the breadth of activities undertaken by the School.  If you have anything you’d like to contribute to this, the SAC Newsletter, then please email Siobhan who will then forward to Rachel:
